long time no post
I've been very busy this week with track, school work, homework, and finals study, and picking up after the people I live with. ugh!!. I never have time to craft. So last night after I got home from a hard day of watching someone else's children, I did my storage project. I needed more storage in my bathroom because my sister keeps taking my stuff. I hate it, I'm pretty sure the next time she takes my camera, my money, my clothes, or my SHOES, I will kick her out. It's getting way too out of hand!.
anyways. My week was great! I have some pages I need to get done before this week of stress and business. Well here are my storage pictures. I don't really like them, I never have enough crap to put anything together, and my ribbons never match. Oh well. It's the thought that counts. lol

College Readiness Homework
I'm involved in a program called North Eastern Iowa College Readiness. Personally I think it's lame, but it's my second year in it, and we travel to different college around Eastern Iowa one Saturday out of the month. Tomorrow we are going to Kirkwood, but I practically live on that campus. Got the scholarship and everything at the end of 8th grade but anywhoo.. College Readiness is just a program for lower-income students to get involved with the college environment.
Well our first homework assignment out of the two years that I've been in it, was to come up with a word that describes what we want our life career to be. Last month everyone went around and said what they wanted their dream job to be. My friend Cassidy wants to be a kindergarten teacher, we had CSI's, professional basketball players, photographers, etc. My dream career is to become the Secretary of Education under a Democratic administration. I also want to be a Child Advocacy Lawyer, a supporter and carrier for the Children of Promise. My mom and I are co-trainers for the mentors of this program, [if you look down at another entry I did say this lady was my mom, but she is my mentor, my best friend that I met as a messed up child. She saved me, our job is to teach mentors how to maintain a lasting mentoring relationship. Trust me, it's amazing. This program is to pair mentor's and mentee's with incarcerated parents. I want to help children with the defects of an incarcerated relative, I want to help with teachers pay, and child involvement. I pretty much want to work with children, but personally I don't like the little ones. I want to work with teenagers or pretty much five and up. I'm not big on babies. But all wrapped up I want to be some sort of political aspect within education. Or a Marine Biologist/Special Education Teacher if nothing else works with being a lawyer and all.. well anyway. We had to choose a word to describe our future career. I picked my word forever ago, but forgot about it until today, so I got out my paper and glue and put together my word. The word I chose was 'Others.' I believe that by helping children understand their parents' mistakes that they can learn off of themselves and live a normal life. I believe that children deserve the basic education K-12, and that EVERY CHILD just needs ONE person who will listen to them..
I believe every single one of you should give a hand out and become a Mentor. Every child needs only one person. The feeling you get inside is just remarkable when you can see a frown turn upside down. I guess it's more of a challenge, everyone can donate a can or two, maybe give some clothes to the Starvation Donation, but really. Wouldn't saving the life of just one child change the way you look at the world??. I think it would
Think about the words..lol

Homemade Paper
Last night I decided to try and make homemade paper. I found a site that gave me all the instructions. All I needed was a nylon screen, white glue, a bathtube, blender, and a LOT of left over paper. I didn't have the screen so I tacked some nylon hose onto an old wooden photo frame. It worked great.
Here are the instructions. I used all types of paper, I didn't want a certain color, but if you do, blend separately the greens, blues, reds, etc.
found it here
http://fun.familyeducation.com/childrens-art-activities/activity/29577.html
Homemade Paper
Age: Elementary and up
Time: An afternoon
Type of activity: Arts and Crafts
Making your own paper is fun, easy, and a great weekend project. Your homemade paper will add a wonderful touch to any card or letter.
Materials needed:
· Scrap paper (Plain, loose-leaf, or even construction paper)
· A blender
· Nylon screening
· Plant and vegetable scraps (for color)
· Staples, tacks, or waterproof glue
· A wooden picture frame (8"x10")
· Stapler
· White glue
· At least two kitchen cloths
· Large wooden or plastic spoon
· A wash basin
· A sponge
What to do:
Step One: To make paper, you must first make a paper mold. To do this, take your wooden frame and staple a nylon screen to it tightly.
Step Two: Tear the scrap paper into small pieces and soak them in hot water for 30 minutes.
Step Three: Fill a blender about three-quarters full with clean water. Take a handful of scraps from your pile and put them into the blender. Close tightly and blend on medium-high for a few seconds, until you can no longer see pieces of the paper.
Step Four: To add color to your paper mixture, add small amounts plant or vegetable scraps (such as orange peels, carrots, or flowers) and blend again. Pieces of foil from leftover holiday paper and colored thread also add a special touch.
Step Five: Fill a basin or bathtub about halfway with warm water. Add a few drops of white glue to the water and mix thoroughly with the large spoon.
Step Six: Pour the pulp into the tub or basin and distribute it evenly throughout the water.
Step Seven: Dip the wooden frame into the water and scoop up some of the pulp. Gently shake the frame back and forth to get an even layer of paper pulp on the screen.
Step Eight: Let the water drain through.
Step Nine: Lay a clean kitchen cloth on a flat table. Lay the screen face down on the cloth.
Step Ten: Lift off the screen carefully. The paper should drop out easily onto the cloth. If it sticks, gently tap the frame.
Step Eleven: Let the paper dry completely. When it is fully dry, pull gently on either side of the cloth to stretch it and carefully peel the paper off.
PS.
That last piece looks different because I flipped it over. In the end you will have one side kind of dull and the other full of scraps.

A day of no school
I had no school today,YEAH SNOW DAY, so I made some cards out of regular paper, flowers, markers, and brads. It takes me about 35 minutes per card, believe it or not, I'm not very good at coming up with ideas, that's probably why it takes so long. I got this idea of regular white cardstock from someone's blog, sorry I don't remember who. I used thin colored paper from Staples. The ribbon I found on some old dolls of mine. Believe it or not, I use a lot of my older doll clothes for ribbons and sometimes backgrounds.
I need your help. I'm making something special for someone special. I need to learn how to make the pull-treat pouch, and how to make a book card like a big card that opens up into an open box. If anyone can help me, I would be highly grateful.
Thanks,
RaeAnne

Music of my Life ♪♪♪
AMAZING day, started off with a two hour delay, my friend Cassidy text messaged me saying we had a late start at 5:30 AM, normally I don't get up till 6:15, but today I got up around 7:30. It felt wonderful to sleep in one more day. My day was great, I wore a cute new sweater, and I got back my AP world history test. I got 61/75, an 81%, which is FANTASTIC compared to what my other huge tests were in this class. My worse class just happens to be a college one, go figure. lol..
I finally got the pictures of my cousin's party, too bad I can't post them, but here are a few of the AMAZING ones I found.. I hope ya'll had a fantastic day too.. ♥

Valentine Sweet Hearts
SO today I woke up a little upset because my kitchen wasn't that clean, I swear my OCD takes over TOO much with my kitchen, so I pretty much had a spaz attack over the kitchen. But after that I make shells and cheese and decided to create my valentine things for friends. I cut out cardboard tags and put paper on both sides, I used bobbypins, buttons, string, thread, ribbon, paper, colored pancils, zipper handles, poker chips, and beach shells to make them look amazing. I wanted to make them for my group of friends, Cassidy, Adhi, Nick, Jon, Emily, Lauren, Sami, Morgan, and Dani. Of course if you look hard, my name is really the only weird one, except for Adhi, she's from India and I really don't know her WHOLE name. But here they are!!

A day of no crafts
SO I woke up this morning with tons of snow on the gound. My mommy and I traveled to Des Moines for my cousins birthday party, I saw my Aunts Regina, Rebecca, Rhonda, Rachelle, and Rheann. My cousins, Allisa, Jordan, Kylie, Paige, Isaac, Lucy, Zoey. My gramma Dittmer, and some more people, including Uncle Jim, Ryan, and Jeff. [oh trust me, that's not even close to all my family]
I passed out school pictures and gave Lucy, Zoey, and my aunt Chelle their cards. And my so called 'nothing' project to Kylie. It was all fun. Ate some no wheat, eggs, and other stuff in a cake. My cousins are like allergic to everything. Sad story. My uncle Jeff and I had a HUGE conversation on politics, I had to listen to his right-wing stuff, but then my mommy saved me. My mom, Roxann, is AMAZING!! for sure. Paige and her were playing doctor. So I had to save my mom, when really she was saving me from the hell of Jeff's conservative views.. lol
i love my mommyyy.. The Strongest, most AMAZING woman I know. My hero, my angel. lol. This is my mommmmm... AMAZING, thats about the only word I can put to her. I didn't seem to get any pictures of her today, so I put in one I found from my cousin's wedding
[I haven't gotten any pictures from today yet. So I'll post them later]
Have a great night, I guess.. I have homework to do..

Very first love sketch!!
Today was a RAE-FABULOUS day. I finished my homework early, because we got an early out, AND that meant I got to do a little bit more crafty creative things. Like make my VERY FIRST CARD SKETCH THING!! YEAHHZZ...SO I went to Verve Visual and I saw this sketch! so decided I wanted make my own creation after looking at some other peoples' blogs and their very magical creations. SOOO I walked off to my room, laid out some paper, got some beads out and opened my jar of rubber cement. AMAZING STUFF... and started putting crap together. I absolutely LOVE glue and beads and paper.. AWESOME STUFF. sooo here's my Valentine Card for this sketch.. I used beige paper that I got from some scrap-pack over Christmas. Red silky ribbon that my parents bought last year in some rose petal thing. Most of everything else is from TARGET!! best place EVER!!
I might not be posting anything tomorrow. I'll be in Des Moines visiting family for my cousins' second birthday party. They are turning two. Me and my mommy are heading out tomorrow morning, I'm not sure if I'll be back Saturday night-ish, or Sunday. It all depends on the sky and the snow on the roads. UGH I hate driving on Iowa roads.
xoxo
